Brief description of your characters history, including family: Makepeace is the oldest child of Jeremiah Avery and his wife Hope. Jeremiah was a Quaker preacher and scholar located in the Midlands, and Makepeace was brought up from a young age to one-day replace his father as the community’s religious guide. Although respectful to his father, young Makepeace did not feel that he was destined to stay in their small country community and preach, and this lead, as he grew older, to discontent between himself and his father.
